INTRODUCTION

Observations on the Kayoa Islands 8 to 12 February, 2011 found eight major macrozoobentos phylum of chordates, sponges, echinoderms, cephalopods, annelids, molusca, crustaceans and Ectoprocta. Density reaches the highest percentage of 57.48% with a chordate, followed by a sponge with a percentage of 24.15%, 7.31% percentage of the echinoderms, cnidarians have a percentage of 4.91%, 4.64% is the percentage of the annelids, and only 51% of the other categories. Another category of phylum molusca as much as 1.29%, 0.16% of the crustaceans and ectoprocta phyla have a percentage of 0.06%. Chordates from Subfilum Tunikata is very abundant biota. Tunikata, also known as sea squirts marine life that has not been studied extensively in Indonesia despite the great potential of Indonesian coral reef ecosystems.

METHOD

Macrozoobentos data retrieval using the belt transect method by summing the species in coral reef ecosystem

Figure 1. Phylum composition macrozoobentos in the
Kayoa Islands

Lelei Island
Guraichi Island
Popaco Island
Talimao Island
Taneti Island
Gunange Island
Kayoa Island
Miskin Island

 (Lelei)
High diversity of ecosystem (H ') with the potential to function as an antibiotic Oxycorynia fascicularis. (Guraichi)
Diversity (H ') and uniformity (E) in Guraichi Island are high and there’s found Dysidea herbacea has potential as inhibitors of tumor progression. (Popaco)
Low dominance  (C) occurred on the island of Popaco with the potential for biota Agelas clathrodes proven to act as bacteriostatic agents inhibiting bacterial growth.
(Talimao)
Dominance (C) in the waters of the Talimao Island is lowest than others. Trochus niloticus could be commodity terrazzo tile industrial raw materials and export commodities. (Taneti)
Diversity
(H ') and uniformity (E) are lower than Talimao but Taneti Island  has Didemnum molle function for the treatment of acute depressive illness and long term. (Gunange)
High uniformity  of ecosystem (E) with the presence of palytoxin zoanthids in Parazoanthus contains. This substance is harmful to require treatment, especially in contact with open wounds. (Kayoa)
Diversity
(H ') is standar in coral reefs. Species of Culcita novaeguineae used by pearl fish to live. (Miskin)
Diversity
(H ') and uniformity (E) are high with low dominance value. Synaptula sp. on the island used to clean garbage poor circulation, especially in the sponge.
